Dr. Gustin has over twenty years of experience in helping people on their road to recovery, psychological well-being, and self-discovery.
Biography
Dedicated professional in psychotherapy
Dr. Gustin earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in 2005 after completing a one-year internship at the Dayton VA Medical Center. From October 2005 to September 2008, she was the Special Emphasis Programs Psychologist at the Dayton VA, where she served Veterans in residential treatment for substance use disorders (SUD), dual diagnoses, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and homelessness. From September 2008 to January 2011, she was the Coordinator of the PTSD Program at the Dayton VA. From January 2011 to present, Dr. Gustin has served as the SUD-PTSD Specialist in the Trauma Recovery Center at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center - Fort Thomas Division. Now, she is also making her services available to the broader public via Recovery Road, LLC.

Dr. Gustin approaches issues from the perspective that our thoughts (cognitions) about a situation are what create our emotional response (feelings) and subsequent reaction (behaviors).

Dr. Gustin specializes in the use of mindfulness for the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, and other addictive behaviors. She also specializes in the treatment of PTSD.

Dr. Gustin offers the following evidence-based therapies: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Relapse Prevention, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Harm Reduction, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
